On-page SEO, or on-site SEO, is the practice of optimizing a website’s content and structure to improve its search engine ranking and visibility. The goal of on-page SEO is to increase organic traffic to a website by aligning its content with specific keywords and search intent.
Some examples of on-page SEO include:
- Content: Optimizing the content of a page to align with search intent
- Title tags: Optimizing the title tags of a page
- Headings: Optimizing the headings of a page
- URLs: Optimizing the URL structure of a page
- Internal links: Optimizing internal links on a page
- Image compression: Using image compression to keep file sizes small
- Alt text: Using alt text to quickly and accurately describe images
- Page speed: Optimizing page speed through caching, fetch priority, deferring, and lazy loading
On-page SEO is different from off-page SEO, which involves optimizing a website outside of the website itself, such as through social sharing and external linking.
